How to reboot the display?

I'm running RHEL4, and periodically the screensaver will lock up. I don't know if it's the screensaver or some other issue, unrelated, but whatever the case, the display console becomes unresponsive.

I can still telnet into my server, however.

I was wondering if there was some way I could reboot the display only, or jumpstart the screensaver or some such, so that I can log back into the windows manager and use the display without having to reboot the machine (thus losing all the windows I had open with open edit sessions, etc.)

You should be able to just "pkill xscreensaver", If it is not actually xscreensaver freezing though, you should kill the X server itself. You should get rid of telnet access if at all possible though, use ssh instead.
