blackbox is now being utilized, and there is more system ram available!
i actually figured out how to access my home folder, by utilizing nautilus. i minimized the java interface of the dc prog that i'm running, and it totally disappeared
, so i scrolled to icons, and there was the dc prog listed. i then seperated icons, and now have a screen w/ only icons, and hanging right under it, my dc prog in it's minimized state. great, i kept everything native, w/o robbing any of my 64megs of system ram.
here's the blackbox faq that i used:
http://www.reedmedia.net/misc/blackbox/faq.html
procedure to get to natilus was:
right click desktop->applications->file tools-> nautilus (this allowed access to my home folder, where my dc prog is)
icons:
settings-> workspaces-> icons- i then held down the left mouse button on the icons title bar, and separated/ dragged it to a place that i wanted. now the dc prog resides there under the icons title bar in it's minimized status.
i think that this was the best approach, as adding non- native icons was really not necessary.
edit:
found out when my mouse died due to ghetto kvm (ie. manually switch cables at rear of pc case), that blackbox does not have keybd key support?!? whatever the reason is- i would think at least ctrl+alt+del, or something for killing the comp, w/o going for the on/ off button on the pc case? yeah, ok, add bbkeys, bbtools, ect... great. probably good that i'm using ext3, instead of reiserfs [supposedly better at rebuilding from hard shutdowns- something i need to consider (noob safety net of sorts)].
