how to play songs in linux


hi
i m new to linux i have very little idea abt it.i have installed fedora 9 gnome in my system. i use windows xp also in the same pc.the problems i face are....
1> how can i play videos and mp3 files ?
2> whenever i insert pendrive i dont get any option such as remove safely...
3> i heard if we delete virus then it is deleted permanently in linux but wat i face is there is a file named thumbs.db everytime i delete tat file but the next time tym i get those files back.
help me out i want to know.

1) Look in the sticky in the Fedora forum on this site. You need to add the livna repository and use those packages. For dvd playback also go to the nvc website.

3) The Thumbs.db isn't a virus. It is a database of thumbnails probably produced by your file manager.

I don't use Gnome. In kde, right clicking on the pendrive icon brings up the option.

In GNOME right click on the pendrive icon and select "Unmount Volume".

Are you by any chance dualbooting with Windows XP and accessing folders from the Windows installation?, or are you accessing a drive/folder that is shared with a Windows machine elsewhere?
I ask because Windows XP will generate Thumbs.db files for all folders containing pictures inside those folders, when preview is enabled.
