How to move from 2.6.11.12 to 2.6.12?

Should I just apply patch-2.6.12?
Or how?

Thanks.

You would have to first download the 2.6.11.12 patch and reverse it. Take the kernel back to 2.6.11
(patch -Rp1 patch...)

Then you could apply the patch 2.6.12

Then you could apply patches

2.6.13
2.6.14
2.6.15
2.6.15.4

Might be quicker just to download the entire most recent kernel maybe...

You can also use a tool that does everything for you:

Ok, I'll try it.
But isn't patch-2.6.11.12 intended to move from 2.6.11.11 to 2.6.11.12? I.e., doesn't this mean that it'll reverse my 2.6.11.12 back to 2.6.11.11 so that I'll have to reverse-patch down to 2.6.11.0?

Thanks.

No, they aren't incrimental patches there (although you can get them). The main 2.6.11.12 patch takes it all the way back to 2.6.11

Yeah, I've tried it and have already patched to 2.6.12!
Thanks, amosf, soon I'll be using 2.6.15

If you are upgrading between releases using the stable
series patches (for example, patch-2.6.xx.y), note that
these "dot-releases" are not incremental and must be
applied to the 2.6.xx base tree. For example, if your
base kernel is 2.6.12 and you want to apply the 2.6.12.3
patch, you do not and indeed must not first apply the
2.6.12.1 and 2.6.12.2 patches. Similarly, if you are
running kernel version 2.6.12.2 and want to jump to
2.6.12.3, you must first reverse the 2.6.12.2 patch
(that is, patch -R) _before_ applying the 2.6.12.3 patch.

This info was taken from the /usr/src/linux-2.6.15/README
