how to mount hard drive partitions??

im a complete newbie- to linux
how should i mount my hard drive partiions ?
i have 3 partitions
1.hda1(ntfs)-has windowsXP
2.hda5(ext3)-is mounted and has my beloved linux.
3.hda6(fat32)-recognized by windows

once i mount them, how can i run widows related programs like *.exe files and stuff?

Code:
mkdir /mnt/hda1
mkdir /mnt/hda6
mount -t vfat /dev/hda6 /mnt/hda6
to mount NTFS you need NTFS support compiled into your kernel if it is, do:
http://wiki.linux-ntfs.org/doku.php?id=howto:mount
You can't run windows apps on linux natively, and the emulators are beta state right now, check out http://www.winehq.org

You can do this, but you don't really want to stay in a Windows state of mind do you? As a newbie you should really be trying to familiarize yourself with the command prompt. Unless you just plan on doing basic internet and office related tasks. Point and click seems easy, but if you become familiar with the command prompt it too will be easy, and more powerful.

Also, you just installed Linux. Do you want the first thing you do in Linux to be to try to get Windows programs to work? What program are you trying to get to work. Unless we're talking games, their is probably a Linux alternative.

You can use the GUI as a tool, but realize that the GUI is not the end all be all of your computer; unless, as I stated, you only wish to use it as a Websurfing machine.

i do want to familiarize myself with the command prompt(my subject in college is infoscience but am a total illeterate in linux..want to program in linux!! ) but the manual pages are too much for me to take in..
