I have tried the thing which has been said in the digit mag. but even after copying the libmpeg123.so in the related directory i am unable to hear the mp3, the slider moves and no music is played please help. Also is there any player like the XINe for playing .dat movies...
Yea, you need the mp3 plugin to play mp3's in RH9 as redhat did not include it because of certain legal considerations. XMMS is the best player for mp3, ogg etc. You can also try mplayer for listening to audio and playing all kinds of video. Its the best and most versatile video player in linux. Make sure you download all the codecs to play windows media. also download the divx codecs and quicktime codecs. On compiling you get mplayer, gmplayer (GUI) and mencoder (video encoder).
Enjoy!
Thank you Martin and baskie for your support. ... saurav, i am downloading the codecs now, i shall tell you weather it worked or not.. thankyou ..saurav
