How to kill program that has crashed?

My StarOffice has crashed, and I can't close the program window. When I click on the "X" it doesn't do anything.

How do I manually kill StarOffice so I can open it up again?

You will need to find the process number for StarOffice in a terminal window with something like:

ps -l

You will then want to use:

kill (process number)

kill -9 (process number)

The kill -9 is a higher level kill command. It will pretty much always work.

Hope this helps.
