Dear all,

My goal is to create a Live CD with selected packages and Pre configured services, then install it to harddisk.

First part is completed,(this iso is boot able with httpd and mysql configured) but i am stuck with installation part. Can any one help?

I am using following Link as a Ref:

Host : CentOS5.5(32bit)

Thankyou.

The usual way I used to suggest is to take some of the Knoppix web pages for how to boot to a live cd and then install it. It was quite an effort. Not only was it a two step process but you have to fool with chown and chmod all over the place as I recall.

On many modern distro's you might be able to take some install now and just dd it over to a disk.

Let's go back to how you made this live cd. In many situations, you create a hard drive image or sort of a virtual hard drive then force that to a cd/dvd. That data might be able to be moved directly to a disk and only add in grub and maybe some few things.

It is rather odd to make a live then go back and install it to a real drive.

Dear jefro,

Thanks for your reply, Yes this is bit odd to make a live iso then install to harddisk. Actually i want to make some changes with configuration(apache- add some web pages / mysql - add necessary database) and put it in iso so that i can run it as a live and also can able to install if i wish.

In current days most of distro have live version and also possible to install to harddisk. Fact is not a good tutorial i found in net regarding this issue.

Thankyou.
