hi everybody,me a newbie from south africa.im excited to have joined lq.coz im glad to be in the company of ppl that share the same interests i do.recently installed ubuntu 9.04 on a toshiba satelite pro laptop that had no os n it all.i also have this vodafone usb modem id like t use with it,but ive no clue on how to configure it to the laptop to use for web access.when i plug the usb modem into my win xp desktp,it works rite out the box.id like to make a permanent move frm windows to linux os.but its probz like this that keep me running back to windows lol.please help,anybdy

Can you give us a more verbose output of what model the usb modem is. Also type the following into a command line then highlight it and post it here.

this will give use extra information about the modem.
