How to get the virtual terminals onto my monitor?

Hello all *wink*

I was torn between putting this in the newbie forum or here, but since I think that this is more than a simple newbie question, I'll go ahead and put it here...

To my problem: Since I installed the nvidia drivers I've been unable to use the virtual terminals, since they spawn on my TV screen, which is connected to the gfx card via a svideo-to-scart cable. If I boot into runlevel 3, and startx from there, and then quit X, I get the same result. The console spawns on my tv.
During bootup I see the bootup sequence (including the BIOS post) on both my monitor and my TV, but as soon as kdm starts I get picture on only my monitor. If I start a virtual terminal I get that terminal on my TV, and my monitor goes blank, but I can still switch back to the monitor with ctrl-alt-f7. It still really sucks that I can't use the other terminals so I would love to find a solution to this. I've tried to search for a while all over the web for a solution, and found something about adding an IgnoreDisplayDevice "TV" to my XF86Config, but this only caused BOTH my tv and my monitor to go blank... so that wasn't really a good solution

Is this really a problem with X settings, or is there something else that I should look at? I also heard something about totally disconnecting the TV would fix the problem, but since I use it for watching movies (don't have a regular dvd player) that is not an option either.

oh, I'm kind of new to linux, I've only REALLY used it for a bit more than 2 months...

I'm running SuSE 9.2 on an Athlon XP, a Geforce4 ti4200 with the newest nvidia driver (7167, and I also tried the one before that, can't remember the version number), and a regular CRT 17" (Huyndai Deluxscan b790).

This is an nvidia bug. Downgrade to the last nvidia driver revision. Read the nvidia forums for more information.

Would anyone know what the last "working" revision would be? (is it avaiilible from the official nvidia site or should I get it from someplace else?)

Thanks

All revisions are listed on nvidia ftp- download.nvidia.com.

The last was 6629.

hmm... I actually HAVE been running 6629 up until last friday... and had the exact same problem with that revision.. the only time I've seen the virtual terminals on my monitor was when I was using the nv driver ... but then again that doesn't have 3d acceleration... :/

and in case you misunderstood my question: with "working" i ment the last revision without the bug causing all my terminals to spawn on the TV...

People have the same issues on the nvidia forums. You can get the last working revision from them. I don't have a tv for a monitor, sorry.
