How to get stats on desktop?
 

Uploaded/downloaded, space on drives....weather updates?

i know coolmon and such for windows. How can i do this under Linux?

gkrellm. Or go to dockapps.org or some such. There are several sites and zillions of apps. Plus, there's always an xterm. *g*
