As an alternative to getting your linux boot loader back, you can edit Windows' boot.ini file. (This is what would serve as Windows' "boot loader")

Are you trying to say that the Windows boot loader will load linux kernels?

Personally I'd put GRUB back. Many distro's can do this as part of the recovery feature on the recovery CD. You can also use a knoppix 3.6 CD.

Boot.ini can boot a linux kernel. But going back to grub/lilo is preferable. That boot.ini "workaround" was offered as an alternative . . .
