How to generate an rpm from source?

Hi there,
does anybody know a guide or tutorial or so, which shows how I can generate an rpm package from the sources of a program?
E.g. make an rpm for the Dia drawing program or so.
Or is it rocket science?

regards Fredy

There's an step by step way of creating rpm packages from your source code.
You can check this howtos, they have templates and some examples.
