Angry how to dual boot ? how to partition hard drive? how to install fedora?

I am not new to linnux? I am new to computers? thx to advisors for some reason it has been ok to skip intro to computers? i want to set up dual boot with xp and fedora but i cant get the harddrive partitioned. i downloaded gparted and copied it to a cd but i dont know how to boot from the cd so i decided to just skip it and use my fedora install cd that came with my linnux for dummies cd and i dont know how to partition. i am confused about what a live cd is. i want to understand how to boot from cd rom.I read the first three chapters of linnux for dummies and it does not tell you how to partition your harddrive if u do not want to erase windows?

To boot from the CD, you need to make sure your BIOS is set to use the CD-ROM drive as the first boot device. Usually, when you power on the machine, you'll see a message saying something like, "Press F1 to enter setup". This is how you enter the BIOS to change the boot device priority (amongst other things). I assume when you install Fedora it will ask you to set up partitions. Perhaps you should look at the documentation in the book (?) or on Fedora's website. A live CD lets you run Linux without installing it (i.e. it runs from the CD). This is good if you want to try it out first. The downside of using a live CD is usually that you can't save any settings.
