How to disable tracking in Firefox
Hi,
I use Slackware and the Mozilla updates have been coming often for FireFox. So I used ' latest-firefox Version 1.2' to get my new Firefox Slackware package. Just minor updates for security issues.
I really do not like leaving bread crumbs so I used; How to disable tracking in Firefox
Quote:
In current iterations of Firefox there is an option called do not track which when enabled requests the sites you visit to respect your wishes not to be tracked, however ruthless advertisers are in no way coerced into abiding by this request. Luckily Mozilla is working on mandatory tracking protection but hasn’t yet been enabled by default for the masses.

Easy to do and maintain via the shield in the URL bar. You can get add-ons but this technique has worked for me without major issues.
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy!

Mozilla also provides a nice add-on so you can see who is tracking you.

Lightbeam is a Firefox add-on that uses interactive visualizations to show you the first and third party sites you interact with on the Web. As you browse, Lightbeam reveals the full depth of the Web today, including parts that are not transparent to the average user.

that option is garbage
most sites IGNORE!!!! your "do not track" setting
and actually USE THAT SETTING to track you
even in TOR your unique software signature CAN BE TRACKED ( might not know your IP address but it is YOU)
the os and version
the browser and version
plugins installed
and the BEST ONE!!!
the FONTS you have installed
add all of them up and you get a 1 in am million unique hit

Yes, I am aware of Adblock plus. The link was just to point an alternative method and a good read.
