How to deal with huge swp files such as .store.log.2.swp from squid directory?

Dear friends,

I am trying to clean up disk space for my squid mahine which was overloaded with oversized log files. I managed to clean up the log files but came into these hidden files which I never know exist.

28672 Nov 1 08:03 .store.log.1.swp
-rw------- 1 root root 348160 Nov 1 08:17 .store.log.2.swm
-rw------- 1 root root 450560 Nov 1 08:15 .store.log.2.swn
-rw------- 1 root root 130199552 Nov 1 08:04 .store.log.2.swo
-rw------- 1 root root 317165568 Nov 1 08:01 .store.log.2.swp

As u can see, the size of the sqp and swo file is huge, I am just worried it will grow bigger. What can be done to these files in order to clean up its size so it won't take too much space?

Can it be deleted? what is its purpose anyway?

thanks for taking time reading my mail,

Regards
Yong

When your Squid logs rotate, they are renamed as .1 .2 .3 depending on how often they are rotated. Really, it's only the access logs I keep as that's what we'll need to check if a person's Internet access needs to be checked. The store + swap log files simply state what Squid had stored within it's cache. Once the logs are rotated, these logs are not needed, only the current store files. You can safely get delete them and save yourself a chunk of disk space. Also, look at how often these log files are rotated, it should be set as a cronjob.
