Question How to configure Nautilus / Gnome ?

I tried to read through all the manuals, but could not find anything on the following points [they might sound a bit stupid, but I am new to Linux]:

- How can I set Nautilus to use the same background or pixmap for ALL drawers? If I Drag'n'Drop from the selection to the Nautilus screen, it works only for this one folder!

- Where can I get other themes for Nautilus [not for GTK+, or is that the same]?

- How can I get Nautilus to work with tar.gz files? KDE konqueror can open those like a drawer, is this possible with Nautilus as well?

- How can I get my files indexed for faster search? When I am doing a search, I'm told that I should enable 'fast searching' [or something], which IS enabled. However, I'm told that 'crond' is not working. How can I turn it on [and by the way, what is it]?

- How can I change the sort criteria [i.e. name, type, etc.] of the nautilus view permanently?

- How can I search the online manual? For KDE, there is a 'search option' included in the screen, where is it for gnome? Am only shown a html-page in a browser-like window.

Maybe someone can help one those questions, thanks a lot!
