Question How to clonezilla to smaller disk ??

Hi All,

I'm trying to clone a Kubuntu installation from a 250gb disk to a 120Gb SSD but I'm unable to.

I've restore installation to another 250Gb disk and shrink main partition to only 50gb, but when I try to clone to the 120Gb SSD Clonezilla still says destination disk is too small.

Then I've try to clone partition (not disk) but clonezilla returns a weird error, something like "Box partition doesn't exist".

Can someone tell me how to archieve this succesfully? A link to a how-to or something like this.

Many thanks in advance

Clonezilla is a great tool for quick copies of drives but if you want this much control you should use dd, atleast thats what I would use and have never really used clonezilla anyways.

The only thing with DD is you need to know EXACTLY how many blocks to skip.

I'd shrink the current source partition and then clone it by partition.

Never heard of that error. May be some other issue going on.

I would even consider to copy it "on line" to the target "by hand" or with mc?
I allways try to make my root partitions 10...30GB so I can move (=dd or clone or whatever...) them easy and the/home I just copy then...
