how to change login-prompt in slackware?

how the heck do i change that login-prompt line which looks in Slakckware by default like:

"hostname login: "

i have no trouble to change /etc/issue, but that cursed login line resists any attempts in /etc/default/getty. for example i would like to include the number of a given tty, the virtual terminal one intends to log in.

ok, i just found out how to adjust that login-prompt in Slackware:

- first slackware uses agetty (and not getty, at least not for this purpose).

- second parameters like "\l" and others (see man agetty) in the /etc/issue file will be interpreted by agetty, and printed accordingly right before the login prompt line. a years-long problem got solved!
