how to broadcast tv over an ip network?

Hi,
Does anyone know how I can take the incoming TV aerial signal [i think it comes in on a co-ax cable], and broadcast that over an tcp/ip network?

well if your capture card supports this then i would assume it would be in their manual....so i would say you will have to start with that....
i know my capture card supports this, but sadly only in windows, as my card is not supported in linux yet....so start by finding out if this is a capability with your card.

ffmpeg can supposedly do this but i never got it to work

sorry, I have no experience at all with this. I think the answer to the question I was looking for is basically to get a TV card and use a comp to broadcast it. Can you confirm this?

yes, get a tv card, reasonably fast pc(to compress on the fly), and some streaming software.

thanks, I'll look into it
