How to: an Install Fest
I'm wondering if any of you guys could answer my install fest questions, and maybe share an install fest experiance.
(installfest vrs install fest)? Allright: I live in (as it says) Cochabamba, Bolivia. (South America) I plan to invite a bunch of geeks round one day during the vacation (Christmas! yay!) to have an install fest. what should I have on hand? should I provide or make them bring their own CD's (distros) ? ---------- ok: and my own personal install planned. 2 harddrives. Some linux (maybe mandy or slack). Win 98 and 3.1 (for the heck of it!) what should I do? I know that there might be some problems doing this. any tips? thanks a bunch titanium_geek |
Just an idea, invite them to bring their own distros, but provide an "easy" one (~5 copies? depends on size) for them to install. I'm thinking Mandrake or similar so that people who can't bother burning cds don't have to get an uber-hard distro to install/use. Remember first impressions with linux matter.
Secondly, punch and pie Lan drops if at all possible for downloading upgrades. -Chris |
