How to add apps to a distro with no pkg manager?
I'm trying to add various apps to pmagic-4.4/4.5 as pmagic
is made with slack12.2 and some debian no pkg manager though apps must be "hand-installed" http://partedmagic.com/documentation...-programs.html I believe I need binary pkgs is there a place to get 12.2 binarys with depends pre-installed? Problem is I don't know how to figure out all the depends for say, Gimp? I don't want to add the apps to pmagic/pmodules as there loaded to ram which is inconveinent compared to having them installed into the pmagic.sqfs filesystem I want to add Gimp and maybe Audacious what should I do guys? |
You need to install from source.
Are there any compilers installed ? Download the tar from gimp, and start configure, it will tell you what is missing. |
Well
I thought about that too repo thats a good idea, though it would mean alot of trial and error work what exactly does this mean repo Quote:
do they already contain the depends? whats a pkg called if it comes with all depends? is that a binary or whats that called? |

Seems to me you need to solve all dependies by hand. However some programms, like firefox come with all libraries included in the tar. |
