Right but if wanted to do things that way we could go to BSD instead of Linux. Oh wait there are 3 different BSD variants...

I'd suggest you're now going out of class into phylum.

And I guess your sarcasm is meant to facilitate this discussion, rather than to dismiss it. There's nothing new about your comment. The basic premise being, if you don't like what we have, shop someplace else.

Thank you for the insight...

Much ado about Nix...

I've created a page for the Nix system on my blog. I've already contacted the group on freenode #nixos. I've joined their mailing list, and have given a general invitation to any Nix users to comment here. Here's the link for the Nix page.

And I'd suggest there is nothing new in your response. You started the discussion and I pointed out what I saw as the flaw in your premise. Each time I respond you reply with things that highlight that flaw so I respond again. Forums aren't for monologues - they're for dialogues.

In this latest post you again highlight the flaw by attempting to dismiss my responses which is exactly why we wouldn't want to have one person deciding on a single distro that is good for everyone. We already have the M$ model for that kind of thinking.
