how do i override intial login and passwd

hi all,

as the kernel boots, are there any 'keys' which directly take you to the root terminal without entering the login and passwd, i've seen this being done but dont know how...as in F6 under win95/98

thanks :Pengy:

append "single" in ur boot option. I think that may do.

no, this particular 'key combination' is a backdoor entry which bypasses login and enters the root terminal and it is entered much before the boot option loads on your screen...

you could try

LeftAlt_SysRq_e
or
LeftAlt_SysRq_i

but it not a good idea,

linux init=/bin/bash

at the boot prompt is recommended

It also has to be enabled, I think Mandrake comes that way.
