The usual thing is to install it to a directory in the $PATH and it will run automatically (e.g., usr, /usr/local)
You can install and run it from /home/john/crashplan, but if you run it as john, you will only have luser permissions. If that's OK, well and good. Find it's exact location, and run it, e.g.
