How do I change the cursor in the new XFree86?


I have 4.3. How do I change the cursor? Thanks.

there are loads of ways to do it, but the nicest and easiest one would probably be to open ~/.Xdefaults and enter a line saying:

Xcursor.theme: redglass

to use the redglass theme. there are only two themes available afaik, but within a couple of weeks i daresay there will be a lot of second rate ones to choose from

The list of cursors available is in /usr/X11R6/include/X11/cursorfont.h

To change the cursor do:

xsetroot -cursor_name draped_box

replacing cursor name with one from the cursorfont.h file. You might want to man xsetroot for more options.
