How can i resize mi ext3 partition ? problems with gparted
 

Hello im a new user .. im having problem with partitions

first i installed windows .. then backtrack .. now i erased windows

and when it says: unallocated .. it was windows partitions

what i want is resize ext4 partition .. or create an new ext4 partition.. because idont have more mb .. available

if i create a ext4 partition on unallocated or an ntfs on unallocated.. becomes to "unknown" partition

what i need to do?

You would need to give a little more detail on how you are doing this. Are you using GParted from a Live CD or flash drive? When do you see the 'unallocated' message? Boot Backtrack and open a terminal and login as root and run this command: fdisk -l(Lower Case Letter L in the command). If you use sudo with Backtrack, preface the command with 'sudo'.

I hope you read a little about Backtrack before installing it as it is a poor choice for a new user. Also, I understand it is no longer being developed and the new system is called 'Kali Linux'.

I have read a lot of backtrack .. and it's installed on my hd .. y see the message: unknown .. after apply changes on gparted .. the unnallocate space on the picture is on /dev/sda1 .. and my backtrack its installed on /dev/sda2 , what i need to do? .. the commands from the post of yancek?

Hello, love that you got rid of winblow$. :D Where do you get the "unknown" partition message from GParted or BackTrack; can you back up your data and do a fresh install preferably Kali?

Yes im considering that.. install Kali but i have some troubles installing software like: teamviewer or qtorrent .. vlc , and cairo-dock .. it's the same with kali ? or it is more easy to install software

Kali is easier but not as much as a major distro, I find it best to dual boot (or in my case quad boot) Linux.

so theres's no way to recover that gbs ? .. in a terminal or idont know i dont have any space .. say me if there's no way to solve that .. if there are not a solution i will install Kali

For anyone here to be able to tell you if you have space you will need to post the output of the command I suggested in my last post. I wouldn't expect to see a partition showing as unallocated space.
