How can I open .bz2 files (the Kernel)
Hi,
I downloaded the Kernel 2.6 from kernel.org but its a .bz2 (BZip2) file so I can't open it with Ark.
Can anybody tell me please with wich programm I can open it?

Or even with tar using the -j <flag or option>
man tar for more details.

The program should be included with your distro. If it isn't installed in /usr/bin/ you can use the Mandrake Control Center to find and install it.

Umm.. yeah, its running Linux already I'm sure..
bunzip is probably already installed, have you tried locating it, etc?

Try using tar like I mentioned before:
tar jxvf kernel-2.6.0.tar.bz2
Or something along those lines.
man tar
man bunzip2

it works!! kernel.bz2 is now kernel.out
Before 30 MB, now 170 MB (approx.)
