How can I log in?

I'm new to Linux. I wondered Linux and downloaded Linux XP Desktop English Edition from "ftp://ftp.unixcenter.ru/LinuxXP/desktop/2006/english/" and burn .iso file on a CD,and successfully installed Linux XP. But after completing installation, my computer rebooted and asked for a username and password.I don't know both of them, so I couldn't log in to Linux XP. During installation, Setup wizard asked for a authorization password. I know that password but I don't know username. So how can I log in to Linux XP? Is there anyone who can help me? Try to put username "root" and password the password you gave when prompted during installation to see if you can login.

Try username "root"
and password you provided earlier.
the user root has the root powers and you should use it very
carefully.
If that username password works then create some users to be used for
regular logins using following commands:-
useradd <usernameyouoptfor>

another command
passwd <usernameyouoptfor>

then you can use that user for day to day use

That's not how it works---answers go here.

Did you create a user during install--or did you simply give a root password? If the latter, then the login name is "root".
