How can I increase cron log level

I want to increase the cron log level if at all possible.
My cron log entry in syslog.conf is this:
cron.* -/var/log/cron.log

But it seems that not all is showing up.
Can I increase the log level and if yes how?

there are different possibilities: sometimes -x, sometimes -L <loglevel> can be used, sometimes there is no way to change (just on/off). Why do you need this?

I need it because of this issue: Debian daily cron job won't run, but does run in cron.hourly.
