how can i add installed apps to applications tab
 

i have downloaded many applications that can only be opened from the command line. is there a way of adding these programs to the applications tab.
i'm using ubuntu hardy

If you right click on the Gnome menu you can edit the menus, can add applications to it, choose menu icons and so on.
