host machine virtual machine question

Hi there --

We are running VMware Server 2.0 on a host running the Fedora Core 14 operating system. The guest, or virtual machine, is running on Ubuntu LTS 10.04 server. There is one network interface card on the server, and the guest is connected to the network via bridge connection.

The question that I had is the following: Is it possible to have the host system on one subnet, while the guest is on another subnet?

Well, yeah.

But you have to trunk the switch port to be able to send both subnets over the connection.

I'd use nat instead of bridged but I think one could use multiple ip's in the host.
