Unhappy

I am making my own boot/root disk to better understand the linux boot up process. My disk works fine until I reach the login prompt. When I login as root and enter a password it gives me something like this:

Login(36) can't read 'UNKNOWN' on tty1

After this failed login, if you wait a while the screen would then be filled with some sort of I/O error:

I/O error on dev 01:00 at sector Blah blah blah

I don't remember the exact errors.

Any ideas? Thanks

There is nothing to do with ur Boot disk , may be the prob with password or else installation of Linux.

While booting check if u get "FAILED" for any inits. & revert
