Hi,
I've used linux since the summer of 2001 but I first saw Linux working back in 1994 when my dad gave it a try, I was only 10 years old i coudn't remember it very well. But actually the two things I remember the first one was the "huge ass" X cursor and the bugs (animals / beetles to make it clear: I don't mean software defects!!!) who were crawling under the windows like XTerm etc.
Now 10 years later Linux evaluated into a "useable" OS and configuration isn't that hard anymore. My dad isn't using Linux anymore after this first try back in 1994 he stoped. But I'm still looking for the bugs crawling under the windows. Does anyone knwo what kind of software it was or of which software packages it was part of?
The only thing I know it that the distribution was called "Yggdrasil Linux Fall 1994" (first distro ever shiped on CD-ROM
) I still have that disk and it's still readable!! The only thing is I can't install it becaus the linux kernel (1.something) doesn't understands my CDROM (IDE) drive so I can't find out what's the name of the software or in which Display Manager it's included (I thought is was a DM??).
Can anyone give me some points to start searching for this unforgettable part of software!! It's the only thing I can remember from those day's!! It was so funny!!!
Short useage story:
When the app. is activated a number of bugs are crawling under the active windows and they will hide there. When you move the window the bugs will see "the day light" and they are searching for a window to hide. When a window is closed they will search for other open windows and hide there!! That's all I know, sorry for that!!
I really hope someone could help me out finding this suppurb peace of software!!
