High idle cpu load in 2.6.4?

I compiled 2.6.4 a while ago, and i didnt really notice until today, when i had to boot back into 2.4.25 that 2.6.4 has a very high idle cpu load. Its very odd. The computer will be sitting there, and i'm getting about 5-10% cpu load. It will rest at nearly 0% on 2.4. Is this because of the way that the kernel reports cpu usage to gkrellm, or is it actually using more cpu....

If so, is this problem fixed in 2.6.5?

Im using kernel 2.6.3 with fluxbox on a 586/P75@100MHZ and 128 megs of ram. My cpu is idle at 0.9% mostly.

Your system is funky or you compiled
CFLAGS=HIGH_IDLE_CPU into your kernel somehow.

Hmm... i'll; have to check for that flag. It just seems that all apps take more cpu when running under 2.6.4... i havent had a chance to boot 2.6.5 yet.

i686/P400. 128MB RDRAM. Kernel 2.6.3 Idle at about 3% (just running fluxbox).

my 2.4 kernel was idle at about 0% and this was annoying me for some time until i finally said fsck it and let it be because even though the idle cpu usage is higher, the 2.6 series is just plain faster. everything starts faster, runs faster. so if those 3% are the cost of greatly increased speed, so be it.

edit: hmmm, i could have sworn i didnt write "fsck"....

I've just been having a couple problems with 2.6, and was wondering if that was normal. My bet is that they changed the way the process read the used cpu time state.
