I am looking for information about high avaliability systems dependig on the size of the business that uses them. I would appreciate any tips about
the appropiate solution for individual users, small and big business: RAID, clusters, multiproccessing, load balancing...

That is quite a broad range you want to cover there. You could basicly write a book covering all of that. I suggest you go read some docs about HA solutions(cisco, sun, emc, all have great docs on HA). If you have a specific scenario where you want to implament HA, post the details. Probably get more help that way.

I know it is a wide range, I just wanted some general orientation, as i am a bit lost. What I want is to compare different HA solutions depending on the bussiness that implements them. For example, what are the possibilities for an individual user and which one is the best?

We use Veritas Cluster server to create Linux clusters. That software is used to create a failover cluster. The software is not free, however.

Sun just opened the source to their clustering software. Version 3 is much better then the previous versions if you want to create a solaris cluster. Linux has some opensource software for HA like heartbeat. Its really hard to say this is how you will setup HA for small business, med business, ect cause there are so many variables like what apps they are running, budget, os enviroment, existing hardware, and so on. The sites I said to checkout have a lot of general info on ha. Cisco has a ton of generic docs for ha network setup, sun has some for solaris/sun hardware redundancy(some of the theories can be applied to other architecture), and emc or any other storage vendor should have plenty on data redundancy. Like mentioned above, check out the veritas site. They have docs on their clustering software which will give you a good idea on how ha can be done.
