help with sendmail

I have 2 windows xp clients and a redhat 7.2 server (running dns, smb, sendmail) all connected to a cable/dsl router. I would like fetchmail to grab email from different acounts on my isp and have sendmail sort it out by user. Then from one of my windows xp clients, I want to pop3 to my linux server and access email addressed to me. I would also like to send email to other users on my home network and out to the internet.

I figured out how to send email out to the internet through my linux server but I can't send email to local users or access email to those users from my windows xp clients (error 550 unknown user). There are accounts setup on the server for the different users.

Are there any special settings that are needed for this setup in the /etc/mail/ config files. If any what are they.

I'm sort of a newbie. Up to this point I have been able to figure stuff out on my own through online documention and howto's.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

you could stick this line..

pop3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd /usr/sbin/popper -s

in /etc/inetd.conf of the server and then use clients on the windows box to fetch the mail.
