It doesn't sound like it detected your video card. Depending on your video card you may need to run xf86config and select your card manually or edit XF86Config and update the section under "Device"

If you have an Nvidia based card and the module is loaded in memory then the driver you'll want to add is "nvidia"

Actually since you have an Nvidia card the best thing to do might be to download the latest nvidia driver from www.nvidia.com and install that. Last I checked they now have an installer that does everything for you (maybe it even edits the appropriate files for you)

Nvidia's website has all the details but after you download the driver you just install it like this:

sh Nvidia-driver-installer.run

or something.

Knoppix runs from CD, so changing the config files would be hard.

Try this at the boot prompt:

knoppix xmodule=nv|radeon|savage|s3 ( specialy for nvidia cards )

or if that does not work:

knoppix xserver=XFree86|XF86_SVGA
