Red face help with backup files


Does anyone know how many types of backup files does linux have.. To what I understand their is tar files, gunzip files... is their any more??/

bzip2, zip, and probably many more. but gzip and bzip2 are the most popular, used in connection with tar. i.e. tar.gz and tar.bz2
