Exclamation Help urgently PLEASE???? Installation Problems with Mandrake 9.2!!!

i just got a new copy of mandrake 9.2 and when i get into installation when it is unpacking i get the following message

error in exec of stage 2 :-(
trying to execute /usr/bin/runinstall2

the following error occured
FATAL ERROR IN STAGE 1 : I/O error

I can't recover from this
You may reboot your system
HELP PLEASE???

Before Trickykid or whatever his name is yells at you, make sure the subject of your thread appropriately describes your problem.

try and google : mandrake "stage 1"
there is some on linuxquestions and Mdk91 about obvious bad cd
and have a look too at http://astcomm.net/pipermail/techtal...08/000046.html
