help!! recovering a ext2 fs

I did something very stupid.
I went into fdisk and changed the partition type from linux to
LVM. then I went ahead and put data on my new LVM, ( before rebooting the computer so that I could still use the old files.)
then when I rebooted the box presto - no files!
so I did another stupid thing.
I changed the partition back to linux, then did "mke2fs "
now I have a empty fs.

I don't want to sound desprate, but is there any way I can recover at least some of those files?

thanks in advance , NGraphiX

i dont know the structure of ext2 but i doubt mke2fs will have written over the entire partition, most of the data will still be there, i suggest you copy the partition to a file and search through it, you should find some fragments but getting anything non-text back will be near impossible. A data recovery company would be happy to help you for the right price.
