Help! Pls!

Ok, I am not a linux user, I have used windows all my life and have dabbled in some linux distros wishing to learn linux. I have installed linux mandrake 10.0 on my computer and now can not get in to my computer hardly. I figured out a way to get it to the prompt screen though. My question is, what do I type to get to the fdisk? it is a 466mhz compaq with a Maxtor 20GB hd. I have been looking all day trying to find the commands and when I type fdisk it displays a list similar to this:

fdisk /dev/hda
fdisk /dev/sda

(something like that but with couple more on the list that I do nto recall off-hand)

and so I type fdisk -1 and come up with the list:

fdisk [-l][-b ssz][-u] disk

fdisk [-b ssz][-u]

I have tried fdisk /mbr and it says it is not found. Have tried fdisk /dev/hda and says can not open and tried fdisk /dev/hdb and again says can not open. I just want to fdisk it and delete partitions so I can delete mandrake and reinstall it. This time I am hoping to get it all installed correctly and set this compaq up as my server on my home network. I am not much on programing or linux or getting trough things to easily, but I do tend to learn fairly fast and I am decent at looking for info online for commands. That is the only way that I knew to try fdisk and found new commands and such from there. PLS, HELP ME. I just need to know what command/s to type in to fdisk it.

try using cfdisk, should be installed.

anyways all your partition needs should be met during the mdk install process.

Moved to Linux-General - it fits better there. And Yull29m, could you please shrink down your signature - a small discreet sig is fine, but a large one like that isn't. Especially one advertising a band name.
