Exclamation Help no sound on Gnome!!!

Hi, I´ve got a problem with Gnome´s sound, when I try to run an application in which sound is involved, it says that there is an error that ESD is not working, to get ESD working I should try with the right click menu or on a terminal I should write "esd" but when I try this it says that it is allready working but still I have no sound on my PC, it doesn´t even play cd´s. If somebody knows something It´ll be a great help!!
THANKS A LOT!

Is your soun card configured correctly? Check in Mandrake Control Center.

i had a similar problem and i just did the following. open a prompt and run 'aumix', turn all the volumes up, set it not to mute, and save settings. then run 'kmix', and turn all the volumes up. There may be some alternative mixer you need to use in GNOME, not sure.

Now it sounds like i am just telling you to turn up your volumes, but the actual fact of running these utils seems to create the necessary symlinks for my sound to work, so there you go. hope it is useful to you.
