and why do you need a computer to record sermons and classes ?? whats wrong with a decent tape recorder ? I ask that because in years gone by I have operated sound systems ( multi-channel mixing desks etc etc )and in my experience the fancier and complicated the system becomes the fewer people able to maintain it properly. ( and the more armed guards and alsatians you have to use to protect it from the button-pushers and knob-twiddlers )

Q1, I know of only one computer shop around here that works on linux systems and that only through a friend of mine who works on Windows networking that goes to our church. From what I hear they're somewhat expensive though and they seem to be the only ones who do much. I had hoped to teach my dad (he'll live here till the day he dies, no worries on that one) and let him work it. I've got friends I can teach who will pick it up and run with it.

Q2, We use a computer to record the sermons and classes to make them available on CD (we also provide it on casset). We can fead it back off the casset into the computer but instead we just record it on computer (through a 1/8 in)

I had also heard someone mention besbuys geek squad. I am unaware how they are other than in our town but here everything they get comes out worse. An opinion thats not only shared by non-computer enthusiasts but computer enthusiasts alike. Nobody I've talked to around here ever said they'd use them again. They didn't like the prices and the service but then again alot of the computer places are getting lazier and alot more expensive. Part of the reason my side buisness or working on computers (mostly M$ home computers of course) is taking off. ;)
