Dear all,

I'm in great need of some help now. I accidently messed up my partition table. Instead of zcat xxxx > /dev/sdb, I issued zcat xxxx > /dev/sda, which is my main hard drive with my whole life on it. Everything works for now, but I know that when I reboot I'm done for.

Unfortunately, I have no time to look through the net for a solution, since I have to hand over this shared computer asap.

cfdisk says

FATAL ERROR: Bad primary partition 0: Partition begins after end-of-disk
Press any key to exit cfdisk


Is there any fix for this before I reboot! Please!

I don't know. But if all else fails, and you do not get your answer and have to reboot. Try running Knoppix and try to save the data from the bad partition. It could work.

OK; I have the partition table information from /sys/block/sda

How do I write it back to the disk? This must me possible - I will be ever so greatful to whoever helps me! I'm really desperate now....
