Help! My mouse JUST stopped working!


Hey, I my mouse just stopped working for no reason! Before i was using a usb mouse, then after it stopped working I tried using a PS/2 mouse but nothing worked! I accessed the Mandrake COntrol Centre just with the keyboard but I cant select anything using the keyboard!!

Please help ASAP (btw im on Mandrake 9.1)

Have you tried restarting X? Ctrl+Alt+BackSpace, startx from console?

The more posts I read here, I don't think its very uncommon for a PS2 mouse to not work under Linux. Usually switching to a USB mouse, fixes the problem. Since you were using a USB mouse to begin with, are you sure the mouse didn't take a dump for some reason? Did you try a different USB port? If its an optical mouse, is the light on the bottom still on, suggesting it is still working?

Have you tried re-booting to see if Mandy will detect the PS/2 mouse on boot? Does Mandy configure the PS/2 mouse, or at least offer the opportunity to do so?

Well... it was shown in a link list beneath a more recent thread; I did only check month and date, but forgot to check the year (it seemed too improbable).
