the computer is ibm p3
after installing redhat As linux
then after some time remove that system using fdisk and delete that ect3 paqrtiton
i want to install win 2000 on it again
what happend is that after the installation the system always start with the word grub and stop the process ...who i can remove that word or the boot from my MBR
i am try that command
the dos promt after command give me null line (nothing)
but after the reboot the word grub is removed but the mbr still have windows operating system list .....what is the exactly effict of fdisk /mbr
you erase the data at MBR - Master Boot Record.
if you have already an OS running, you need to install again a boot loader and everything is safe.
windows, afaik, erases the MBR by default. your grub is complete gone after a windows installation.
i understood that you wanted to take grub out. so, fdisk /mbr will clear that for you.
