I assume your using DOS fdisk? From the delete menu select non-dos partitions. I think you mean logical not optical.

GRUB>
HELP!!!

diptanshu_parui 12-16-2003 11:43 PM

simple

either re-install Windoze to re-write MBR or do these steps from the grub prompt

grub> rootnoverify (hd0,0)
grub> chainloader +1
grub> boot

I am assuming you Windows exists on hda1

Is there any Way to permenently delete grub? i hate that it loads into that all the time

diptanshu_parui 12-17-2003 01:08 AM

Even, I faced the same problem. I did the best and the simplest thing for my machine. I freed up some space from Win partition and re-installed RH9 on the free space.

I am so happy that I can't stop crying. I am laughing through my tears. :)

ummm
#1) i have fedora core and i hate it
a) downloading plugins stops mozilla from opening at all
b) my computer sux too much for it
#2) that still doesnt tell me how to delete grub.
#3) how do i get rid of grub or at least not see it during every bootup?

diptanshu_parui 12-17-2003 02:48 AM

Did u try this by any chance ?

cozye 12-17-2003 10:06 AM

to delete grub, boot with a dos/windows boot disk and run 'fdisk /mbr'

andrewlkho 12-17-2003 11:01 AM

Either install windows / something else over it, or use a dos bootdisk, and do "fdisk /mbr".

heres some advice, DOS Fdisk SUCKS at partitioning, use the linux based fdisk, try tomsrtbt, LNXBBC or something of the likes to help you in your quest to clear your machine of linux.

(kinda ironic that you need linux to get rid of linux)

EnigmaOne 12-17-2003 07:16 PM

Ignore that advice or, rather, it applies to MS-DOS only....DR-DOS 7.03 FDISK.EXE will do what you need it to do.

Go googling for it, and I'm sure you'll find the entire DR-DOS distribution self-extracting archive someplace. (drdos703.exe)
