help: booting cd-rom in grub boot sequence

my linux box is all screwed up when i boot it up two things fail and it automatically does integrity check be for it didn't do that first it froze so i turned it off then i started it up it couldn't to to the graphical login in screen so i logged in in the prompt then i tried to wine a windows program it didn't work so i turned it off i put it into integrity check then it sent me to (repair filesystem) after pressing ctrl-d and i don't know where to begin on that so what i want to do is make grub boot a my linux CD in the boot sequence what would be the the command to do so?

You can't, its a completley seprate BIOS thing. grub can't make your computer boot from CD. you change you BIOS settings to make the CD the first boot device.

booting from a cd would be handled in the bios, not the os. if i'm understanding you correctly, you'll need to enter the bios and change the boot device option there.

well my kernel has hdc=ide-scsi can't i just change that to cd-rom?

and if that doesn't work how do i get into my bios?
because i see no option of that its just my HP logo and then the grub screen and after that when linux starts up every thing screws up

Once you see the HP logo, you usually would hit something like F2, F12 or DEL .. It's different depending on what bios your PC has installed. I have a compaq laptop, and it's DEL in this. Since Compaq and HP are basically the same, it might be DEL for you too. If none of those work, go to HP's website and look for the documentation on your particular PC.. It should tell you somewhere in there what keypress will bring you into the bios settings.
