Sure, that has been established. . But inorder that this problem be solved, we need lots more of information. Your hardware - is this a desktop/laptop? What device is trying to connect to the internet ( PCI network card/ PCMCIA wireless card ) ? etc. Your network topology - what are you plugging this machine into? router/swtich/hub/cable/dslmodems/phoneline? What software are you using to manage this connection ? Your software - What error messages did you receive from the software? How did you realize that you're not connected or What did the software say about the connection?

Dude.. Describe to us what your feet look like?.. We need more details than what you've provided. Your making it like trying to find a needle in a haystack the size of Texas..
I would suggest reading the ethernet howto at www.tldp.org , then come back and if you don't understand then how to setup your ethernet or internet, ask us here with more details, on what you've done, what errors your have, what kind of ethernet card it is.. etc ??
Do you have the same responses like in a separate text file for copy and paste?
I browsed thru your links you provided and not one of them really gave any insight to this member's problem in any detail. Actually only the 'redhat manual' link I had to dig and find a link to a part of the manual that shows how to bring up the GUI interface to configure your ethernet, but doesn't go any further than that.
Just wondering really.. as I don't see this helping with his specific problem but their great links, seen this same post way too often form you though. Oh well..
I have a text file of links, commands I have found handy, etc that I use to help newbies. That is just my generic Redhat links.
He may be able to configure his networking since he connects "through the ethernet" using the command redhat-config-network, but the poster is rather stingy with information.
